POSITION OBJECTIVE:

The Accounting Manager will report to the controller and will be responsible to help oversee the daily operations of the accounting department, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, managing Accounts Payable / Receivable, maintaining internal controls, and supporting the company’s financial goals. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, excellent leadership skills, and a strategic mindset.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Financial Reporting: Manage the preparation and presentation of financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP or IFRS standards.

  • Internal Controls: Develop, implement, and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial records.

  • Month-End Close: Oversee the month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and analysis.

  • Reporting: Prepare and analyze accounts payable reports, including aging reports, cash flow forecasts, and other financial metrics. Provide insights and recommendations for process improvements.

  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the development of budgets and financial forecasts. Monitor performance against budget and provide variance analysis.

  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.

  • Manage Accounts Payable Process: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the accounts payable department, including invoice processing, payment disbursement, and vendor management.

  • Manage Accounts Receivable Process: Oversee the full cycle of accounts receivable, including invoicing, collections, cash application, and account reconciliation.

  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Credit and Collections: Develop and implement credit policies and procedures. Monitor and manage the credit risk, ensuring timely collections and minimizing bad debts.

  • Vendor Relations: Build and maintain positive relationships with vendors, resolving any discrepancies or issues in a timely and professional manner.

  • Compliance and Controls: Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting principles, and regulatory requirements. Implement and monitor internal controls to prevent errors and fraud.

  • Audit Support: Coordinate with internal and external auditors during audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.

  • Ad Hoc Analysis: Perform ad hoc financial analysis and projects as required to support management decision-making.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CMA certification is highly preferred.

  • Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Great Plains, Service Titan) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights.

  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.

  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail, with a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.

  • Leadership: Proven leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop team members.

Time Management: Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
